Year 8 Students Benefit from Cultural Exchange

At the beginning of this term, we had a new student visit Kristin from Japan for three weeks. When she first arrived, she was quite shy and didn’t know much English, which made it quite hard for me to communicate with her. After only a few days, she really opened up to the whole of our class and we became really close. Although it was hard to communicate sometimes, we managed to enjoy our time together; I discovered that Nao was really kind and had a great sense of humour.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t here for her last day, due to being sick, but this negative instantly turned into a positive because we had a lovely surprise this week when she came into our class to say goodbye with her whole family. I was Nao's buddy during her time with us so I introduced myself to her family. They bought us mini cakes and we all swapped contact details.

We're all really glad we met Nao, if only for a short time and we will definitely be staying in touch with our new friend.

文化交流の恩恵を受ける8年生

今学期のはじめに、日本からクリスティンに新しい学生が3週間来ました。最初に到着した時は、とても恥ずかしがり屋さんで、英語をあまり知らなかったので、私は彼女とコミュニケーションを取ることがとても難しかったです。ほんの数日後、彼女は本当にクラス全体に対して心を開き、私たちは本当に仲良くなりました。時々コミュニケーションをとることは難しかったですが、私たちは一緒に楽しく時間を過ごすことができました。ナオは本当に親切で、素晴らしいユーモアのセンスがあることに気づきました。

残念なことに、彼女は体調が悪く最後の日を欠席していましたが、今週お別れをするために家族と一緒にクラスに来てくれるという素敵なサプライズがあり、ネガティブな出来事がポジティブに変わりました。私はナオと一緒に過ごしたバディだったので、彼女の家族に自己紹介をしました。私たちにミニケーキをくださり、みんなで連絡先の交換をしました。

ほんの短い時間でしたが、ナオに出会うことが出来て本当に嬉しいですし、絶対連絡を取り合おうと思います。

とても優しく素敵なバディに恵まれ、たくさんのお友達を作り、短期間で色々な事を吸収し、成長したナオちゃん。素敵な笑顔で短期留学を終える事が出来ました。これを糧に長期留学を頑張る事が出来そうです✨
